Yesterday was our wedding anniversary and we skipped a romantic night out for an evening at the fair. The Western Montana Fair to be exact. It’s a small town kind of fair. You know the kind — where there’s a midway with carnies yelling about prizes, some sketchy looking rides (it was opening night & we saw two rides already closed for repair), booths filled with fried food, cotton candy and all types of back massage chairs, magic knife sets, or lifetime guaranteed pillows you never wanted. There were also plenty of animals to ohh and ahh over, and of course, the judging hall filled with garden veggies, preserves, cakes, flowers, and handmade art.
It was two-for-one night which meant we only paid a $6 for both of us. Since we didn’t spend money on anything else, it was well worth the six bucks for a few hours of entertainment.
After the fair we went to the Iron Horse Brew Pub in downtown Missoula for dinner and drinks. Even though we arrived at eight o’clock on a Tuesday night the place was packed and we had to wait about an hour for our food. The atmosphere was nice though and we sat outside on the back patio. I also very much enjoyed my white wine sangria- yum!
It was a great anniversary and we look forward to many more…wherever we may be.
